|
Three new board members were elected at the annual Friends of the Little Spokane River Valley meeting.
The new board members will be working with the existing members throughout the year on issues that affect our local river and community. The new board members are Roger Slack, Rick Kellogg and Kirk Neumann.
Roger Slack had spent nineteen years with Spokane Public Schools before last fall when he began working at Stratton Elementary School in Newport. He’s certified in Special Education. Roger enjoys his daily drive along the Little Spokane River to and from its source. He particularly likes living near the meeting place of Deadman and Little Deep Creeks.
Rick Kellogg is originally from the Walla Walla area of SE Washington. He moved to Spokane in 1978 after graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry. Rick is President of the Eye Care Team in downtown Spokane and his wife, Sue, is a pharmacist with Sixth Avenue Medical Pharmacy. In 1988 Rick and Sue moved to their home on Little Spokane River Drive where they raised their two children—Ashley, a junior in Accounting at WSU and Ryan, who will be a freshman in Mechanical Engineering at GU in the Fall. Rick and his family enjoy a variety of water and snow sports and he appreciates the wonderful opportunities our Valley offers for cycling, walking, canoeing and kayaking.
Kirk Neumann is the father of four boys and lives near the Little Spokane River. Kirk works as a diving supervisor for a commercial diving company that performs underwater construction services throughout the northwest. He enjoys skiing, hiking, and leisurely walks along the Little Spokane River Trails system with his wife.
Roger, Rick, and Kirk are honored to serve as members of the Friends of the Little Spokane River Valley.
A sincere thank you is extended to the outgoing board members that have volunteered their time and efforts to the Friends of the Little Spokane River in the past. Thank you to Jim Ellis and Dale Walker. Our by-laws call for a maximum of nine board members and we are pleased that all positions are filled.
