Inland Northwest Land Conservancy, Bisson Rd East of Reardan (Inland NW Land Conservancy parking lot)

About the Event

The headwaters of Deep Creek lie just east of the Audubon Lakes and are an area scoured by the Ice Age floods that today include basalt scab rock, potholes, Mima mounds, railroad tracks, and extensive wetlands. Each spring, the area fills up with a riot of wildflowers, insects, waterfowl and migrant songbirds.

We are lucky to have local author Jack Nisbet guiding us. You can ready more about Jack at http://www.jacknisbet.com/about-the-author/

Directions: We will meet at the Inland Northwest Land Conservancy parking lot on Bisson Road just east of Reardan. If you are coming west on Highway 2 from Spokane, turn right on Bisson Road before the sign for the Reardan city limits. Follow this gravel road around 3 90-degree turns and park in the well-marked INWLC area on the left side of the road.

Important Notes:

  • There are no restroom facilities there at the present time
  • Restrooms are available in Reardan and the Audubon Lakes view areas nearby
  • There are no established trails; This hike covers rocky ground and may be wet - please wear good shoes
  • Bring bug and tick spray, sunscreen and snacks
  • We will return to the parking area by mid-afternoon
