TRAUTMAN RANCH
Trautman Ranch is a 275-acre Spokane County Conservation Area located between two disjunctive parcels of Riverside State Park on the south side of the Spokane River just below Nine Mile Falls.
The ranch, currently managed by Washington State Parks, rises from river level to a series of gravel benches left by the Ice Age Floods. Parks personnel have recently undertaken extensive thinning and trail-building operations there. On our moderate hike we will pass through a variety of habitats and discuss State Parks’ plans for future management and public use of this keystone connecting area.
We will meet at the Carlson Road Parking area and trailhead just above the Nine Mile Falls Ranger station at 9:00 and be back there by noon. Bring sunscreen, water, snacks, good hiking shoes, and tick repellent. For further directions go to:
