Hey everyone. As winter rapidly approaches, we have another progress report on the new trail section along Little Spokane Drive just south of Colbert Road.
Despite some rainy weather right after starting, the trail has now been excavated, the culvert is in, and the bottom course of the retaining wall block has been completed so they won’t have to dig in mud as more rain is expected this week.
There were 2 temporary issues in the first week:
Someone turned the crew in for having the wrong permit. It turns out the county person issued a maintenance permit instead of the proper construction permit, but it was quickly handled.
Whitworth Water stopped them because they thought there was a ARV (Air Release Valve) in that area, but it turns out there are waterlines on each side of Little Spokane Road, and the one on the other side of the street is the one with the ARV at the location. Problem averted!
Enoch at Sam’s was able to get the adjacent neighbor to let them stage on his property (thanks!), which is a life saver for convenience and with a little standup loader they are able to do all the tasks without having flaggers. Sam’s crew are doing a great job and grateful to have the work as this is the last job of the season for them.
Hopefully we will have one more update this year with photos of the completed work. Thanks as always to everyone who has supported this effort to improve our community!
